You’ve heard the statement ‘summer bodies are made in the winter’, well that shouldn’t be underestimated. It takes more than a 2-week crash diet and a couple of runs around the park before your holiday to get beach-body ready.
If you’ve got a holiday planned this summer, the time to start preparing for it is right now. Imagine yourself unwinding from your normal daily routine, basking in the late afternoon sun, would you like to look back at the first half of the year knowing you’ve given yourself every chance to feel confident in your swimmers whilst strutting your stuff around the pool, or are you going to leave it until the last minute, panic and then hide under a sarong for 2 weeks?
Whilst we’re on the subject, it’s worth noting that fitness is for life, not just for summer. I know the thought of baring more flesh in the summer sun is the motivation for a lot of people to take steps to improve their diet and increase their activity levels, but why only do that when the temperature rises? If you’ve done that before you’ll know how much better you feel when you do those things, so why not do them all year round?
