Why I got into the fitness industry


I have always been into fitness, that’s not exactly the shock of the century, however, even though I’ve always exercised regularly and eaten a healthy diet, I wasn’t happy with my body, I was going wrong somewhere, I just didn’t know where and as a result was constantly searching for the so-called ‘secret’ to the physique I so desperately wanted only to be left with feelings of frustration time and time again after not seeing results from the promises I was being given by these gimmicky diet and exercise plans. ⁣ ⁣ It’s true, I haven’t exactly been overweight, however, there were bits of my body that I didn’t like and I wanted to improve - bum, thighs, stomach…far too much wobble going on for my liking – mind you, even as I write this, I can hear my friends saying “but Fi, you didn’t have wobbly bits” I did, you just couldn’t see them because they were always covered up. ⁣ ⁣ Anyway, you name it, I’ve done it. Crazy workout programmes that had me leaping around the living room like a demented grasshopper. Diet plans that told me to either cut out a food group or eat ingredients I wasn’t used to in ‘to-the-exact-gram’ portions with no clue why or what I should do after the plan had finished. All of which resulted in me: ⁣ ⁣ a) not getting the results I had been promised⁣ b) feeling deflated that all the hard work I’d put in had given very little return⁣ c) berating myself for falling off the wagon when I couldn’t stick to the diet and before I knew it I was back to square 1 every time.⁣ ⁣ It was only when I started strength training regularly 4 years ago that things really began to take off. I also saw the light and stopped searching for the ‘magic diet’ that was going to be the answer to all my problems and paid attention to science (geek alert!) I discovered that you don’t need to cut out carbs and fat is not the enemy. Fad-diets are!! In a nutshell, I had to take ownership of how much food I was eating.⁣ ⁣ As a result of combining these 2 main factors, my body felt firm, had less jiggly bits when I walked, less cellulite. I felt strong, flexible and more confident. It was my Eureka moment! The only thing that annoyed me was that it had taken me so bloody long to discover that this is what actually works, nearly 15 years!⁣ ⁣ So, with one or two other factors falling in to place at the right time, namely building my private fitness studio, I decided that I wanted to teach and empower other women just like me and help them strip away the layer of fat and create strong, lean bodies without wasting and more time resorting to drastic, dead-end diets and spending pointless hours on the boring treadmill. So, to make it official, I studied for my PT and Nutrition qualifications and the rest is history.⁣ ⁣ I get a real kick out of seeing the progress my ladies make through training with me, nothing makes me happier than hearing them say things like “I would never have had the confidence to wear those jeans” or, “I’m now fitting back into dresses I haven’t worn for years because they were too tight” or “I’m starting to see definition in my shoulders” or, and this is one of my favourites “my husband can’t believe I’ve got this figure without doing any cardio”⁣ ⁣ Ladies, I don’t want you to waste any more time like I did in achieving the body you want. I want you to discover for yourselves how amazing it feels incorporate a regular strength training programme into your life and strip away that stubborn layer of fat.
