3 tips to help with lack of motivation

It's something we all struggle with from time to time, myself included, so what can we do to get our mojo back if it's been lacking? Here are my top 3 tips:


1) Start small. If you've been out of your exercise routine for a few days, or even weeks, the thought of getting back to it can make it seem as though you've got a mountain to climb. But who says you have to hit it hard? You can just give yourself 10 minutes to do a few sets of body weight exercises at home, or go for a short run around the block, or just pop your head into the gym for half an hour. There are no hard and fast rules here and chances are, once you get started, you'll probably want to continue for longer than you intended anyway!


2) Remember why you started. We all have reasons for wanting to exercise, but it can be easy to lose sight of this when you're a few weeks in. Keep the reason you started exercising in the first place at the forefront of your mind, and then lace up those trainers and get out there.


3) You'll feel so much better once it's done. I say quite frequently that no one regrets a workout. In the time it takes to have that inner monologue, telling yourself 'I can't be bothered' or 'I don't have time' you could have smashed out a quick workout and feel 10 times better as a result, rather than berating yourself for doing nothing.
